We didn't get those sample ballots.

My friend who lives from across town brought this over to our house earlier.  He said that this is being distributed to every household to show us how we will vote on our country's very first automated elections.

Well, every household was supposed to get this sample ballot.  But, we here in our place didn't get anything at all.

A folk dance whose name I forgot.

My friend's daughter had a performance yesterday in front of our town's municipal hall.  It was a sort of a Folk Show which showcases on our tradition.  There were several folk songs that were rendered by the students.  Then, there were a few folk dances that were presented by different schools.  This was one of the most colorful folk dances that I've seen.  But unfortunately, I forgot what this dance is called.

I am one of those people who wish to have our culture transcend through generations.  And I feel very grateful for those people behind these shows who have the patience to teach and the ability to keep the tradition and teach it to the next generation.  I just wish that we do not run out of these people who will keep our tradition and continue to pass it on to the generations to come.

I'm very fascinated about nipa huts.

The stretch of road where I walk in the morning is rich with things that's worth taking a shot.  This nipa hut shaded by the trees is so laid back.  This is a few meters from the road that I walk on, sitting beside a very simple concrete house with a field of crops in front of the yard.

Bayanihan is still alive.

These people are harvesting watermelons early in the morning.  They are trying to gather their harvests at one end of the field, using the assembly line system, which actually reminds me of the Filipino Bayanihan tradition.  I took this shot on my way to where I turn around to get back.  By the time I got back, which was something like fifteen minutes, these people were gone.  Their job done.

Landing.

I was invited to the opening of a resort somewhere in Pagsanjan, Laguna.  It is a resort that caters to tourists who are going to shoot the rapids.  The resort serves as a landing to and from the Pagsanjan Falls.  The trip to the rapids will take about four hours each way.

This raft serves as their landing board upon boarding and alighting from the bancas.  I felt fascinated looking at the raft and the way it floated on the river and how it carries people's weight from getting off the banca.

Vintage

A native flat iron used by our ancestors in ironing clothes.  This is actually not part of an exhibit but rather a utensil for food business at one of the food stalls at the Anilag Festival 2010.

Region del sol querida

Treasured region of the sun. This shot makes me think of Jose Rizal's Mi Ultimo Adios. For some reason that I do not know. I think the phrase 'region del sol querida' is just right for the shot.

It's been four months since my surgery and I am now doing my morning walks. I bring my camera all the time. Although sometimes I get afraid that I will be nabbed by some bad guys. But, if you can get this kind of picture, it's always worth the risk.

Gone

Gone, but your memories still remain.  But not for long, for I know that sooner or later, it will perish, just like some of those memories that we can't help but disappear.

Kundol (Winter Melon)
