Cancelled

I was trying to clean one of my drawers and I found this.  It's my return ticket to Dubai supposedly after my operation.

Going Home From Work

This was taken at the street perpendicular to the street where I live. This is Oman Road and the loading bay on the right side of the photo is where my bus - C18 - stops.

The world's tallest tower as of this date

Burj Dubai. The world's tallest tower as seen from Satwa side. The building at the foreground is the Al Mazaya Center, kind of like one of the mini-malls here in Dubai. The Burj Dubai is due to officially open on 09/09/09 and this is how it looks like right now. The upper most segment is not done yet, but the lower parts have their 'windows' installed.

A rare opportunity for me. I seldom go to this side of Dubai since most of my client calls are on the Deira and Bur Dubai side. I think this will be my last chance to get this close to the Burj, but I sometimes hope not and I sometimes think I don't care. But, at least, I already have this shot to take with me.

Bus Station

The Naif Bus Station.  I find this station pretty small because Naif is such a busy place.  This is the place where you will find everything cheaper than anywhere else.

Under a Glass

I wondered how it will look like if I took a shot of a glass holding it up above my camera.

Clock Tower on a Foggy Day

The Clock Tower as seen from a the foot bridge in Al Rigga Road. This was taken one afternoon that I wasn't really sure if it's fog or smog, or a making of another sandstorm.

448 Days To Completion

The Dubai Metro countdown. On this day, it was 448 days to go before its completion. This was taken at what would be the Dubai Metro Union Square Station.

My Desk

I was lucky to have a desk beside a window. But the window looks out to another building. I got two desk calendars because the other one was given by my great room mate and I use it to keep track of the next month from the current. I adopted the fortune plant at the left side at the beginning of the year because my male boss had to move to another office. I guess I have a green thumb because it was so little when I started to take care of it.

One foggy morning, my hands were shaking

I wake up at 5:45 am and had to be getting out of the house by 6:30 am, to make to the office and not be late.  It's winter, and it's cold.  This is one of the rarest times that I went out of the house and it's foggy.  It's really fog.  It was cold.  But I am not really sure if my hands were shaking because of the cold, or it's just one of those really bad shots.  But, nevertheless, a shot I wanted to keep.

The building in the background is the Union Cooperative Hypermarket, or what we call Co-op.  This supermarket is mostly frequented by locales and Filipinos and Indians alike because of its low price.  We live very near the supermarket - which is opern 24 hours - that's why food was never a problem.  Even doing the groceries is not a problem at all.

Solitude #7

This is the park near where I live.  I discovered that there is a walk way around the park made of special materials like the ones they used on track ovals.

Scaffoldings

The traffic is so bad.  I wonder how long will this be.  The construction of the Dubai Metro is all around.  From my house to anywhere.  Scaffoldings and cranes are everywhere.

A lot of us are suffering from this traffic.  I sometimes cannot help but ask, "With all this traffic problems and sacrifices, would I still be here when the Dubai Metro finally serves us?

Dubai Water Bus

The Dubai Water Bus, they call it. It's air-conditioned and the fare is AED 4.00.

On the reflection on its window, you can see the abras. That is also a boat that crosses the Dubai Creek. The fare is only AED 1.00. No aircon. But, the river does not smell yet, so it's okay to take the abras. Even the tourists prefer to take the abras against this.
